Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom! A wonderful place filled with hospitable residents, scrumptuous delicacies, training courses, and more! The Mushroom Kingdom is the primary setting of Nintendo's Super Mario video game series. The kingdom is ruled by a young human princess named Princess Peach. The kingdom's residents primarily consist of fungus-like creatures named Toads. The kingdom is also home to the titular Mario Bros., Mario and Luigi. The Mushroom Kingdom is mostly a peaceful setting with tall, round hills, and striped mushroom grasslands with growing mushrooms, hence the kingdom's namesake. The kingdom is regularly ambushed by Bowser; Bowser is a turtle-like creature known as a Koopa and is the ruler of the Dark Lands. Bowser is romantically interested in Peach and frequently kidnaps her as a result, but his plans are consistently foiled by Mario and Luigi. The Mario Bros. are the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom who protect the inhabitants from Bowser's wrath.
